An assumption of in situ resource utilization for “bio-bricks” in space exploration

چکیده
Microbially induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) mimics the natural cementation process that occurs in various geological settings by using bicarbonate minerals resulting from bacterial metabolic pathways as cementing agents. This bio-technique can be used to manufacture so-called “bio-bricks,” which rival regular bricks strength and durability. In last two decades, MICP has been increasingly utilized for maintenance repair of infrastructure. More recently, this also shown have great potential an energy-saving cost-effective means situ resource utilization (ISUR) produce construction materials; these extraterrestrial human settlements space programs such lunar exploration. We thus review description cementation, anaerobic aerobic activities leading calcium precipitation, properties regolith, production bio-bricks, research needs.

Leadership for Innovation in Healthcare: An Exploration
Although leadership has been studied extensively, most research has focused on the political and military spheres. More recent work has also examined the role of leadership in sectors such as manufacturing and technology, both areas where it is essential to encourage and nurture innovation. Yet, in the health sector, where innovation is now high on the policy agenda in many countries, there is ...
متن کاملMars In Situ Resource Utilization Technology Evaluation
We have examined the technologies required to enable Mars In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) because our understanding of Mars resources has changed significantly in the last five years as a result of recent robotic missions to the red planet. Two major developments, (1) confirmation of the presence of near-surface water in the form of ice in very large amounts at high latitudes by the Phoenix...
